A Joyful Kickoff to the New Church Year

This past Sunday was a truly inspiring day at our church, marking the beginning of an exciting new season of community and faith. The music during worship, led by our Director of Music Michael Wyatt, was truly exceptional, enhancing our worship experience and bringing everyone's voices together. We also welcomed the newest child of God in a baptism and Pastor Joe led special blessing of the backpacks and prayer for students and teachers as they head back to school this fall.

Sunday School: A Fresh Start

We welcomed the new year of Sunday School with open arms and eager hearts. Our students explored the sanctuary, searching for places where crosses were displayed. They then made their own crosses using tissue paper and glue. Don't worry if you missed the first week, children of all ages are welcome to join us following worship every Sunday through June. From interactive lessons to creative activities, this year promises to be both educational and fun. Register here.

Waging Peace: A New Seminar Series

Simultaneously, we kicked off our 7-week Sunday Seminar: Waging Peace. This series aims to delve into the complexities of conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and living out our faith in a world that often seems divided. The first session was a thought-provoking introduction, setting the stage for deep discussions and practical applications of peace in our daily lives. Attendees were engaged and inspired by the opening talk, and we’re excited to see how the series will unfold over the coming weeks. Sunday Seminar takes place every Sunday after worship through October 27.

God’s Work, Our Hands: A Day of Service

We also dedicated part of our day to service in our community through the ELCA's “God’s Work, Our Hands” initiative. We rolled up our sleeves to register voters, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in shaping our future. Everyone who volunteered, stopped by or registered to vote was able to enjoy free water ice!

We were reminded of this week's reading from James 2:14 - "What good is it if you say you have faith but do not have works." We can make an impact when we come together in service to others.

Looking Forward

As we reflect on this eventful Sunday, we are filled with gratitude for the enthusiasm and commitment of our congregation. The start of Sunday School, the insightful “Waging Peace” seminar, and our day of service have set a positive tone for the months ahead. We look forward to continuing this journey together, growing in faith, learning, and service.

Stay tuned for more updates and join us in the upcoming activities and events. Your participation and support make all the difference!
