Celebrating 60 Years of Ministry at St. Stephen’s

This fall, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church will celebrate an important milestone: 60 years of ministry in the greater Woodbury community.

For six decades, generations of faithful members, leaders, and friends have helped shape St. Stephen’s into a welcoming congregation committed to worship, service, learning, and community engagement. As we look back with gratitude and forward with hope, we are excited to invite our congregation and community to join us in a season of celebration.

60 Years of Hospitality

On September 13, 2026, Bishop Christa Compton of the New Jersey Synod, ELCA, will join us in worship as we commemorate our anniversary. Following the service, we will host a community cookout in our parking lot featuring food, water ice, music, games, and family-friendly activities. This celebration is our way of saying thank you to the community that has supported and partnered with us throughout the years.

60 Years of Community

On October 18, 2026, members, friends, and invited guests will gather for a special catered celebration at RiverWinds Restaurant from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. After sixty years of giving back, we want to celebrate our people who have kept St. Stephen’s strong.

60 Years of Generosity

As we prepare for these celebrations, we are also inviting members and friends to contribute to a special 60th Anniversary Fund. Donations will help offset the costs of the anniversary events, making it possible for more people to participate. Any remaining funds will be directed toward the ongoing care and maintenance of our church property. Gifts may be made by check or through the offering plate and should be marked “60th Anniversary.”

As we celebrate this special milestone, we give thanks for all who have been part of St. Stephen’s story. Gathered around God’s gifts of grace, we have been blessed to serve others for sixty years. With gratitude for the past and confidence in God’s future, we believe the best years are still ahead!
