What are you waiting for?

If you’ve ever been to a doctor’s office or taken the bus, you know what it’s like to wait. God promises us a future where all heaven and earth are healed: where death, hunger, and suffering are no more. Yet, we know that the world hasn’t gotten there yet. This Advent, we ask the question, “What are you waiting for?” What in your life needs fixing? Where do you look for restoration and healing? What is it that might move you to action for the sake of God’s kingdom?

Each week, we will focus on a different theme, something that God promises for our broken world. The sudden coming of the Son of Man will bring peace on earth. God’s promise of repentance turns us from sin to righteousness. Jesus presence on Earth brings us healing and restoration. And finally the promise of Emmanuel — God with us — means a beloved community with each other and with God.

We wait for all these good things, yet we signs that they are taking root in our midst. This Advent, immerse yourself in God’s future so that you may live out God’s kingdom today. What are you waiting for?
